VLF Projects - Background Information

Normally, SAQ sends out a message around the world twice a year: on Alexander Sunday (Sunday at the turn of the month June / July), and on Christmas Eve morning. The frequency is 17.2 kHz CW. Transmitter start takes place approximately 30 minutes before sending the message.

This article is about receiving radio stations operating in the VLF band (3-30 kHz). Due to the very low frequency, receiving such stations requires some special equipment, since most radios don’t support these low frequencies.
